    Background

    Section titled “Background”

    Diagnostic Operations Mode serves 3 main purposes:

    1. Removes the Dock from operations, meaning it is ineligible for docking.

    2. Enables execution of commands that aren’t safe to run in the course of normal operations e.g. updating software, or manually restarting a service.

    3. Prevents the Dock from entering Degraded Operations Mode

    Fleet Wrangler will reject commands run outside of Diagnostic Operations Mode that require it. Commands run manually (e.g. restarting a service via sudo systemctl restart...) risk putting the Dock is Degraded Operations Mode. Thus, Docks should be placed in Diagnostic Operations Mode any time they’re undergoing troubleshooting.
