Escalation Communication for Engineering

This alarm is covered by this guide. How Design Engineering can easily communicate with Service Engineering
Section titled “How Design Engineering can easily communicate with Service Engineering”Service Engineering relies on Design Engineering input from escalations to return assets safely and efficiently.
The escalation SLAs are the time to receive Actionable Recommendations. The following is a non-comprehensive list of actionable recommendations:
- Return [asset] to service, no action needed
- Power cycle the [asset]
- Perform maintenance outlined in maintenance manual (links below) — could mean a part replacement or outlined inspection
- Perform ad-hoc maintenance — specific parts, actions, or specifics of inspection
- Disable DAR (not performed directly by Service Engineering, but we coordinate this action)
- Perform a field inspection of the zipping point
- Perform a unique action/maintenance not covered in approved documentation. In response to a TQ, a unique situation may call for a unique solution. If you are recommending action outside of UMM guidance or any documentation, ALL possible specifics, details, and risks are needed.
Use @p2-service-eng-on-call to communicate with Service Engineering. If you tag an individual, they may be off-shift and we lose visibility.
After giving actionable recommendations, close the incident! This is the quickest way for Service Engineering to pick it back up.
Keep in mind — Speaking to the grounded asset is safe and speaking one step ahead is efficient
Section titled “Keep in mind — Speaking to the grounded asset is safe and speaking one step ahead is efficient”- Example: [aircraft discrepancy] Re-survey Dock 48. The aircraft can be returned to service.
- Example: [aircraft discrepancy] Power cycle the droid and run a lower/raise. If successful, return all assets to service. If it fails, troubleshoot the electrical contacts on the aircraft and droid.
- Example: Power cycle the aircraft. If the alarm returns, replace the port forward hover propellor. If it does not return, return to service.
Documentation
Section titled “Documentation”- US Landing Docs — contains all official documentation and manuals, including the main ones below. Search for inspections, removals, and other maintenance actions.
- Zerp Maintenance Templates — all Zerp work order templates. Can be assigned to a discrepancy/grounding. May or may not be completely up to date.
